Kedong my frens tagging me with Macaroon pic in FB, so lemme stori-mori you guys about menatang bernama Macaroon. Eh, first of all, x bagus nunggah barang makan menatang koh, bagus kita refernya as 'barang makan' ajak ouh. Ohkay, sambung crita (cube crite cube crite)...
Pada suatu hari, ketika TMN sedang leka browsing through her FB, scrolling it up and down, suddenly she saw her fren posting few interesting pictures of macaroons, that really caught her eyes and senses. Gambarnya lebih kurang begini : sila tengok bawah....

This pic was taken from my bff's FB...luv you Lynne! =)
So, seperti biasa, curiosity kills the pusak, TMN teruslah call BFFnya, asking her where in the world she gets to taste that macaroons because all these while, TMN has been looking all over the place in KL to search for this heavenly looking confection. TMN remembers she saw them on tv, definitely on travel channel when it showed Samantha Brown strollig happily on the cobbled street in France ( I am so dengkiz with Samantha. dahlah dapat hotel yang kacak-kacak belaka, tang senang jak rupanya mengelayor di negara orang) . She entered into this cafe in france, which displaying rows of colourful and yummy looking macaroons at the window glass. Since they look seriously good, so TMN is tempted to have a bite on it. Luckily they finally arrive in KL! Yippie!!!!
Kebetulan at that time TMN was having 2-days seminar in KL and planned to stay over weekend, so apalagi - Macaroon here I come! The journey was fun. Imagine jak, lekak bershopping di IKEA and then rasa2 macam sekda apamenda agik mok dipolah, teruslah TMN threw the idea in the air (of course with that glowing bulb popped up right on my head! Ngeh ngeh)- Y don't we try macaroon? Then DBM's first question : where? Then TMN jawab : My fren madah menda ya ada di Empire Shopping Mall di Subang, ada sik shopping mall baru cya? Mind you, the last time TMN paid a visit to Subang was 6 years ago. Yup, 6 - ANGKA ENAM and she went there just to have a dinner and cuci mata with her bff in a place which was not far from Sbang Parade. Since DBM pun belum pernah pergi cya, so both of them decided to explore kedirik and drove there via fedral highway.Wow..talking about Fedral Highway - so many things have changed there : the landscapes. new shoplots, old buildings, TMN was hardly recognized Fedral Highway anymore! (last time TMN drove through Fedral Highway was in 1998, I repeat - 1998! Tok rezki depan TMN, sik bulak. Ohkay, enuff of that crap. Now back to Macaroon Adventure. So, we drove from IKEA straight to Empire Shopping Mall. Nasib bait sik sesat, sampey juak akhirnya! Sekali sampey, duhal menda ya melobo dijual cya. Since my bff recommended me to have a try in a cafe called "Whisk", so mulalah mata TMN tok scanning the area. Located in GF, tucked right in the corner of the shopping mall, this cafe was so cute and cozy.

Whisk - very cute cafe

toklah Empire Shopping Mall - tempat macaroon melobo dijual!
So TMN managed to grab 10 pieces of macaroons, each with different colour, represents different flavour. Bit pricey, costs about RM2 each (but that time the cafe offers 10 pieces = RM18). While paying the macaroons at the counter, her eyes suddenly caught a signboard, stating that customer is highly recommended to try having their macaroons with bitter black coffee but TMN was couldn't careless. Instead, she take-away the macaroons and bought herself milk cincau (whatta kurengs combo!). The moment she took a bite on it - manisssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss......so sugar-high contained food! diabetics terus boleh banned this food! It was so sweet that it almost hurts your gum! (TMN has a mild sensitive teeth - hence the hurts). Patut juak org recommend makan dengan kopi pahit ! yang ngegeh minum cincau ya salah siapa? ha, cakap?!!
First and second macaroons, and the rest, she gave it to her bff! Untung jadi bff TMN who is so into Macaroons. It has a nutty flavour but TMN swears to God, she could taste a trace of coconut in them (TMN hates coconut traced food) but her bff said it was not coconut, it was actually the taste of almond. Hmm..mebbe yes..mebbe not. Entahler but for TMN, cukuplah macaroon for her buat sementara waktu.

love pink macaroon - rose flavoured!
It's not that she hates it but just give her some time loving it...cewaahhhss..(jaga hati nampak..). So that's TMN's experience of having macaroons for the first time. So, for those who still 'blur' what macaroon is, lemme enlighten you with this info, cedoks from Mr. Know-it- All : Encik Wikipedia. I leave the rest to your own imagination...but before u continue reading, I just wanna say : Macaroon anyone?
p/s : DBM bukan nama sebenar. Few places are intentionally di eja sedemikian rupa. Saje je. Iboh manas. Bah, baca gik dibah ya....bubbye..
A macaroon (/mækəˈruːn/ mak-ə-roon) is a type of light, baked confection, described as either small cakes or meringue-like cookiesdepending on their consistency. The original macaroon was a "small sweet cake consisting largely of ground almonds"[1] similar to Italian or Moroccan amaretti.
The English word macaroon and French macaron come from the Italian maccarone or maccherone. This word is itself derived fromammaccare, meaning crush or beat,[2] used here in reference to the almond paste which is the principal ingredient.
Most recipes call for egg whites (usually whipped to stiff peaks), with ground or powdered nuts, generally almonds. Alternatively, coconuts can be used. Almost all call for sugar. Macaroons are sometimes baked on edible rice paper placed on a baking tray.
